As far as I’m concerned, Charlotte Tilbury can do no wrong.
Her products don’t just look amazing, they ARE amazing and as for her debut
fragrance, Scent of a Dream, it’s everything I hoped it would be!
It is a beautiful, sophisticated, sexy and complicatedly-unique
scent which screams glamour and elegance.
In Charlotte’s own words;
Darlings, I have created a one-of-a-kind ‘floral chypre' perfume
harmony that IGNITES a mind-altering fleurotic frequency. Featuring a blend of
JOY top notes including Lemon, Peach and Black Pepper, ‘FLEUROTIC’ heart notes
of Jasmine, Frankincense, Tuberose and Violet, plus MAGIC MOLECULE base notes
of Fire Tree, Iso E Super, Patchouli and Ambroxan. It attracts LOVE, LIGHT,
POWER, POSITIVITY and SEX to the wearer!
I must say that she describes it rather perfectly!
Before I go into the complicated and decadent scent can we
take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is the bottle.
It screams old school 1920’s Hollywood glamour and the spritz
features her iconic rose gold hue as seen throughout her collection.
The bottle is the perfect reflection of the scent within.
Charlotte labels the top notes as Positivity: Fresh and
invigorating, this confidence-boosting aura develops over 15 minutes and
features Lemon, Peach, Black Pepper, Saffron, Mandarin, Bergamot.
Heart notes become Love & Light: Intoxicating floral
extracts trigger desire and resonate over 5 hours and contain notes of
Tuberose, Jasmine, Frankincense, Hedione, Violet, Muguet, Orange Flower, Rose
Oil, Tea Rose, Green Ivy, Magnolia.
Finally base notes are Power & Sex: The ‘pheromone’
notes are activated by body heat, lasting up to 9 hours. Fire Tree, ISO E
Super, Patchouli, Ambroxan, Precious Woods, Cistus, Amber, Castoreum, Musks.
I’ve never come across such a complex scent before and it’s
clear that Charlotte has put her heart and soul into creating this intoxicating
fragrance.
You all know I’m not a big fan of floral fragrances, but
every now and then something which is just a little bit special comes along and
completely changes my opinion and Scent of a Dream has done just that.
It is a rich, heady, feminine and seductive fragrance which I
could easily imagine Hollywood Starlets from the Golden age of cinema wearing.
Everything
about it from its exquisite bottle to its nectar reminds me of vintage glamour.
